Get to know our team - Ben Hutter

Having worked for GreenStuf® for five years, we decided to sit down with our National Sales Manager, Ben Hutter, and get to know him better. Not just where he is from but his work experience, what his hobbies are, what is on his bucket list and his top recommendation for a TV series.

Tell us a bit about your background.
Born in the UK, I moved to New Zealand to play football at Eastern Suburbs Auckland Football Club. Unfortunately, I was injured and sidelined for an extended time. Luckily, I had ten years of experience as a carpet installer to draw from and landed a role as a sales rep at Carpet Court. My role at Carpet Court led me into the textile and building construction industry.

What is your favourite thing to do in your role?

That would be seeing the team bring back completed projects. The pride that they have in assisting New Zealand specifiers complete projects across all disciplines is great to see.

What do you love about your work?

The people. Across the country, our team puts an incredible amount of work in and have a real pride in the brand. Plus, they’re an easy bunch to manage.

What hobbies do you have outside of work?

Growing up in England, my main hobby is Football. I watch and play as much as possible. As I get older, I am still trying to play on weekends, but I will always try and play until my body no longer lets me.

What are three interesting facts about yourself?

  1. I have a 10-year-old Goldendoodle named Teddy.
  2. I was a carpet installer for 9 years.
  3. I once dressed as a giant duck to raise money for SPCA.

What is your proudest achievement?

Getting into my current role would be one of my proudest achievements. I went straight into a trade after school, and so seeing that all of my experiences have led me here is great to look back on.

Do you have bucket list? If so, what's at the top of your list?

I have a couple of things on my bucket list. The first is to see Damien Rice live, which I have been able to do. My Wife and I headed over to Sydney to watch him at the Sydney Opera House. I loved the show, but I am not sure how much my wife was into it!

My other bucket list item would be to see Orcas in the wild. Everyone seems to have a story about them, but I have not managed to see any.

What songs can we expect to hear when you’re driving around?

As I mentioned before, Damien Rice would be included here. Other than that, I listen to a lot of UK music, and at the moment I listen to a lot of Sam Fender.

What is your recommendation for a TV series and why?

My all-time favourite show is The UK Office. I’ve watched this many times. The US version is good, but growing up, The UK Office was my all-time favourite show.
