We’re proud of every member of the GreenStuf® team, and that’s why we love sharing what makes them who they are. Recently we chatted to Account Manager, TJ Jhagroo, about his work, hobbies, bucket list items and proudest acheivements.
Tell us a bit about your background.
Born in South Africa, my family of four immigrated to NZ when I was five years old. I was brought up in East Auckland where I attended school and eventually graduated with a Business degree from AUT in 2013. I took the next couple of years to bounce between travelling and coming back to NZ to work–mainly to fund the next trip.
I eventually resettled in Auckland, and after working in a position which made use of my degree, I ended up joining a tech start-up which operated in the architecture, building, and design space–where I’ve been ever since.
How long have you been at GreenStuf?
I started at GreenStuf in July of 2022 so bang on two years!
What is your favourite thing to do in your role?
Collaborating with different people has to be my favourite part of the role. From assisting specifiers with energy efficiency requirements on projects of all scale and sizes, to finding solutions with trading customers on site and even helping homeowners with their own insulation selections. There’s such variation in terms of the people I get to deal with, which always keeps it interesting and means I’m always learning.
What hobbies do you have outside of work?
Recently, my weekends have been filled with playing golf and watching the mighty Wahs. In summer, it usually involves much of the same, but with some touch rugby and trail walks added in as well.
Do you have a bucket list? If so, what's at the top of your list?
Top of my bucket list is to see the Northern lights in a Nordic country.
What are three interesting facts about yourself?
1. I’ve lived in a log cabin with no electricity or running water for four months in New Hampshire.
2. I have a cat named Cat (like the Stevens).
3. I was an archery instructor at an American summer camp.
What is your proudest achievement?
I’ve solo travelled to quite a few countries around the world. I’m proud and fortunate that I’ve had the opportunity to do so.
What songs can we expect to hear when you’re driving around to sites or meeting with clients?
My Spotify is really a mixed bag–from Sticky Fingers, Maribou State to Derek & the Dominos and The Smashing Pumpkins to Post Malone and Central Cee. My most recent liked song is Candy–Paolo Nutini.
