WARMER, HEALTHIER, AND DRIER ENVIROMENTS
GreenStuf® insulation is proudly made for Kiwis by Kiwis, right here in New Zealand. Safe to touch, with no nasty chemicals or airborne fibres, GreenStuf is thermal and acoustic insulation made from 100% pure polyester fibre. Just like a duvet.
Incorporating as much as 92% recycled fibre sourced from PET plastic, GreenStuf views waste as a resource with potential, not something to be disposed of. As a result, all product trimmings and offcuts are reused, and waste material goes back through production to make more GreenStuf insulation solutions.
FROM HUMBLE BEGINNINGS
The Greenstuf product range was born in 1989 in Grey Lynn, Auckland. With hard work and a handful of Kiwi ingenuity, the modest four-person operation outgrew the cramped Grey Lynn factory and moved to a larger site in Avondale, Auckland. We’re still proudly New Zealand-owned and operated and have moved to an even more comprehensive site in Hobsonville, Auckland.
From the first punch of the needle in that small Grey Lynn factory, we have always valued integrity in quality and design. Manufacturing in Hobsonville allows us complete control over the design and construction of all GreenStuf products, ensuring quality and performance. Our vision to build a healthier Aotearoa now and for generations to come inspires us to create products that are safe for Kiwis and the environment.
BETTER FOR THE PLANET
We view waste as a resource with potential, not something to be disposed of. With this in mind, our product trimmings and offcuts are reused, and waste material goes back through production to make more GreenStuf.

Our Story
Innovators in the insulation space since 1967
1967
BEGINNINGS
Auckland Textile Ltd was established over a beer and a handshake.
1970
The Turning Point
In 1970 we ventured into polyester insulation with our first attempt at an insulation blanket which we continued to perfect over the coming years.
1975
AUTEX
By 1975 we had grown to be known as Autex and would become a major player in the flooring market specialising in carpets, bedware and electronics.
1989
GreenStuf® is born
We made our first viable polyester insulation product with the low-melt fibre imported for the bedware product range. This innovative method increased the quality of New Zealand Insulation with added benefits never before produced in Aotearoa.
Although more expensive than standard fibreglass, polyester insulation had a number of advantages: it was non-irritating, could be handled without special precautions, required no chemical binders, comprised over half recycled plastic, and could itself be recycled after use.
2009
Warm Up New Zealand
GreenStuf insulation supported the $340 million dollar Heat Smart programme as a project partner from 2009 to 2014, targeting under-insulated homes.
Administered by the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Authority (EECA), its aim was to create warmer, drier homes that were cheaper to heat and would provide better health outcomes for residents.
2011
Warm Up Foxton
Following our involvement with Warm Up New Zealand, we led by the Warm-Up Foxton programme, in partnership with PowerShed Ltd and the Horowhenua District Council.
The additional funding we contributed meant that up to 4,000 Foxton households could get their homes insulated at little or no cost.
2014
Warm-Up Counties Manukau
Partnering with EECA, The Insulation Company, Counties Manukau Health, The Southern Initiative, and The Middlemore Foundation, this programme focused on retrofitting insulation into homes of low-income families with high health needs in Counties Manukau.
Providing free insulation helped families with health issues that can be attributed to housing, to live in healthier homes that are more energy-efficient, and ensure that the home contributes to the health of the family.
